You will be making a vital contribution to the New Product Development pipeline and transforming patient care through innovation. Our Staff Software Engineer leads software/firmware development projects that provide creative, functional, cost effective, and validated product designs in a team-based environment. This is an opportunity for a key role in bringing exciting new products to market in support of the J&J Vision. This role is expected to contribute independently to the completion of project goals as well as work collaboratively with other cross-function teams.</p><p></p><p><b><u>You will: </u></b></p><ul><li>Lead embedded software architecture, design, and development for safety critical medical device application</li><li>Develop code as part of larger software development projects. Evaluate available options and implement the best approaches</li><li>Adhere to all procedures for end-to-end software / firmware development life cycle including requirements, design, coding, unit testing, system integration, and software release</li><li>Hands-on troubleshooting to resolve system, hardware, and software issues requiring data analysis to identify underlying root cause</li><li>Oversight of development and deliverables from outsourced vendor</li><li>Serve as subject matter expert in areas of competence</li><li>Understands and applies Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives in day-to-day interactions with team</li></ul><p></p><p><b><u><span>Qualifications</span></u></b></p><p></p><p><b>Required:</b></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 5 years, or Ph.D. with 3 years of experience in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.</li><li>Demonstrated ability in software / firmware development delivering reliable, testable and maintainable code for embedded system</li><li>Experience with hardware / software integration and issue resolution</li><li>Proficiency in LabVIEW under Windows or Linux</li><li>Experience with LabVIEW RT or FPGA Modules</li><li>Experience with software development best-practices, source code control, requirement and design documentation, code review, and software release</li><li>Experience with at least one full cycle of commercial product release</li><li>Experience working with cross-functional teams and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators in a fast-paced goal-driven environment</li><li>Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Preferred:</b></p><ul><li>Proficiency in C/C++ is a PLUS </li><li>Experience working in FDA regulated industry</li><li>Experience with Python, UML, C# or Qt</li><li>Experience with RTOS and hardware communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, RS485, TCP, UDP</li><li>Experience with board bring-up</li><li>Experience with motion / servo control, bootloader, camera ISP</li><li>Proficient in Windows API, DLLs, and interfaces </li><li>Familiarity with DevOps, and Agile software development</li><li>Rapid prototyping experience</li><li>Ability to read and understand PCB schematics</li><li>Experience with signal/ image processing and computer vision</li><li>LabVIEW Associate Developer, Developer, or Architect certifications</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Other:</b></p><ul><li>Ability to travel up to 10%</li></ul><p></p><p>#LI-AM2</p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p><i><span>Johnson & Johnson is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
