I was searching the web for positive resources on effective black parenting for Christian families. I was confused as I searched the millions of taglines, keywords and information related to learning how to parent God's way for black families. The reason for my search was simple. I wanted to find out some tips and information on raising black christian children in today's society. To my dismay there was very little on the topic of raising black children in Christ. Anyone who knows me will tell you one of my favorite slogans is "If You Don't Like it Change it" so that is what I am doing. On my journey to seek out this information I encountered the Islamic community doing more in effective parenting, black families and marriages than any other denomination and in the Body of Christ. In fact, there are more ministries focused on being single in Christ than there are on raising, developing and equipping families in the Body of Christ. Why the lack of focus families especially in the black community. Here it is! we have programmed ourselves to accept the fact that black families are rare. We have accepted the fact that black families consists of single parent families! We have condone single parenting, single mothers raising our black young men to survive while there daddies are on the streets selling drugs, living the thug life, trying to hold on to some fantasy of youthfulness and the others are incarcerated 80% of the time. We don't see a need for a ministry that teaches on black families when we have accepted this as the norm. How can we begin to develop a positive image of black families if the Body of Christ isn't teaching it from the pulpit, in the classrooms of the church. How can we encourage black families if there are no ministries to support the one's that are sitting in the pews. Do we not have an answer to help them through the daily obstacles and trials in which lay before them. The enemy is quite proud of the fact that he has not only effectively deceived us into believing black families and family ministry are not important but that we have sold out to the idea that this is a waste of time. We need to begin developing ministries that are focused on supporting families in our communities. Teaching and Speaking about how to build a household of faith when your spouse doesn't believe, how to encourage your family to walk with the Lord. Equipping them with the tools to build a household of faith. Family Ministry is important to all who are in the body of Christ. The family is a parallel picture of our relationship in Christ and with the Father. How can we think that we can live with Christ as heirs, connected as a family if we can't live as one here on earth. I am not talking about the estranged family members. I am just talking about the one's living in your household. The community of faith that attend church services weekly. They are seeking an answer to marriage, relationship, raising children and building a family on the Word. It is time to stop preaching itchy ear message and get down to the real business "Our Father's Business" The family is a depiction of Christ. If the families in our church and community are not able to receive support, resources, tools and teaching on building a House of Faith in the Lord then how will they know. How can they survive?
